Search Engine Visibility - A Primer
While there is no guarantee that your website will be listed at the top of a Google search, we employ a number of strategies to optimize the design of our search engine-friendly websites. These strategies are basic, sound and effective approaches that increase a website's visibility to the search engines and include:
Keywords - . The two most important places to put keywords are in the title tags and the visible-body text.
Content Analysis - This process involves reviewing the textual content of your websites in order to ensure that relevant keywords and phrases are located toward the beginning of the text (above the fold) on each page. How high up a keyword is on a web page is called keyword prominence. Optimizing the textual content of a website is a critical factor for search engines.
Subheadings - One simple way to include important keywords at the top of each of your web pages is to begin every page with a heading or headline that contains keywords.
Title Tags - Title-tag text is considered primary text by the search engines. All the search engines index this text and place significant weight on it.
Alternative Text - These are words and phrases associated with images in your website. These "alt tags", as they're called, are looked at by the search engines, much the same way as keywords. "Alt tags" are especially important on pages where there is a minimum of textual content.
PageRank and Directory Submission - "PageRank" is a statistical formula created by Google to rank webpages. While your rank in Google's search engine is influenced by many factors, a very strong component of PageRank is the number of inbound links; in other words, how often do other Websites link to your site. We can provide directory analysis and URL submission, so that your website is listed in relevant online directories, increasing visibility (and "clickability").
Site map - In some cases, it is useful to create a site map or crawler page for your website to improve visibility and "crawlability". This is an image-free page, offering a schematic view of your site that includes links to all the pages on your site.
Resubmissions - Did you know that only 10% of all the pages on the Internet make it to the search engines! The engines just aren't capable of indexing such a huge amount of information. This means that when new pages come in, other pages must be discarded. So it is recommended that pages should be resubmitted often. As part of a monthly maintenance agreement, we will resubmit your web pages on a regular basis.
Monitoring - Part of our monthly maintenance schedule can include monitoring your Website for search engine visibility and "tweaking" it where necessary.
